Billy Ken Ortiz Cevallos
My name is Billy Ken Ortiz Cevallos, I was born in Esmeraldas, a province in Ecuador, I am 23 years old, and today I can finally say that I am a doctor!
Five years ago, I left Esmeraldas (my home) and arrived in Quito at La Fraternidad Santa María Del Paraíso with my dreams and the desire to improve myself, become a doctor, improve my quality of life and make the world a better place.
Arriving at “La Frate” will always be a fond memory to me thanks to Leo and the boys’ warm welcome and support. From the first day, I got to meet guys my age who were happy, optimistic, and with the same desire to be better as me. La Fraternidad taught me many important lessons such as living in a community respecting everyone, loving our environment, maintaining order, practicing perseverance, responsibility, camaraderie, gratitude and many other virtues that characterize the boys of the La Fraternidad Santa María del Paraíso.
We, who have had the opportunity to live at La Frate know that this project exists to help young students achieve their academic goals.
I have successfully finished my career in Optometry, and am now a professional in primary eye health care. It’s a privilege for me to share this achievement with my family, friends, our fraternity and even people who don’t know me but support this project that changed my life.
