Our Mission

What is La Fraternidad?

La Fraternidad is a program that aims to discourage a life of crime and poverty for Ecuadorian students who live in those situations, and encourage education and moral values along the way, through community service requirements and responsibilities in and around their new shelter. This program has been successful in the past with La Fraternidad alumni excelling in their careers after university.

La Fraternidad students share the little they have with a nearby community of children. They tutor the kids, help them with homework and in the summer, they organize camps. This beautiful place could close at any moment due to the lack of financial resources. We are looking for benevolent people and organizations to help keep this program alive.

In the beginning, La Fraternidad was supported by a ministry from Italy. When the economic situation in Italy deteriorated, that financial aid dried up. Money is very tight but their spirit and will is strong. Against all odds, La Fraternidad has survived all these years. La Fraternidad supporters and alumni, who are in a position to help, contribute with money, food, and clothing.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many big investors of La Fraternidad pulled out and the program is low on funds. Without the necessary funds this once life-saving program that provides housing and teaches respect and responsibility to high school graduates, pulling them out of bad situations and providing a better option for their lives, could end.
